The 2012 Ars Electronica Festival starts tomorrow, August 30th. And this year’s get-together really hits the ground running! Day 1 highlights are openings: The BIG PICTURE exhibition; the CyberArts show featuring the most interesting submissions for Prix Ars Electronica prize consideration; the Campus exhibition curated this year by the UdK–University of the Arts Berlin and entitled Soundstudies: Lebensräume; and Seiko Mikami’s installation at the Lentos. Evening rolls around to the sounds of the Red Bull Music Academy on the Ars Electronica Center’s Maindeck. Then it’s on to Stadtwerkstatt for the Houztekk record release party.
The following day, the BIG PICTURE Symposium gets underway at the Brucknerhaus. The main attraction on Saturday evening is the voestalpine Klangwolke co-produced by Ars Electronica and the Brucknerhaus. This year’s visualized soundcloud tells the story of the networking of our world.
So here’s to a great festival with lots of interesting events, conferences, workshops and exhibitions! Program details are online at www.aec.at/thebigpicture.
